Grand Marais Sno-Trails Association
Meet the Club

Revised 08/26/08

Executive Board and Organizers

The following people are responsible for the formation of the Grand Marais Sno-Trails Association and for laying the ground work for the club.  They have put in long hours of their own time to make Sno-Trails a viable enterprise to promote snowmobiling in the Grand Marais area and to help promote our business community through winter tourism.  The board members are not directly reliant on tourism but recognize its importance for the good of our village.  All have a love for the sport of snowmobiling and hope to pass that feeling on to others.

Norm Geiger, President, DNR Grant Sponsor and Operations Manager - Individual, active member:
Norm is retired from General Motors, lives in Grand Marais and has worked with the trail grooming program for several years driving, doing maintenance, running the operations and scheduling.  He is a former snowmobile racer and is an avid rider.  Norm is also the one responsible for keeping our equipment looking like new!  He repaints everything in time for our annual 4th of July parade and keeps the equipment washed and polished - even in the dead of winter!  If you meet a groomer on the trail, look for Harley, a black cocker spaniel, and you'll know the driver is Norm.  Harley doesn't let Norm out of the house without him during grooming season!

Kay Wampler, Secretary/Treasurer - Individual, active member:
Kay was Township Clerk when the DNR Trail Program was in it's infancy and the Grand Marais program was run by the township with one groomer and one trail (#8).  After several years away from the program, she came back to handle payroll in the 2001-2002 season.  Since then she has taken on responsibility for the accounting, DNR reporting functions and secretarial duties.

Drivers/Groomer Operators

In conjunction with those mentioned above, the drivers/operators have a big responsibility to make the program a success.  We have them to thank for the great trails! Without their dedication, hard work, and lonely hours in the dead of night, the trails would be a real mess!

Now that you know us, let us get to know you!
